Club History

The DAF Club of America was founded in 1985 by Mr. Bill Radtke of Santa Rosa, California, and Kaz Wysocki of Hackensack, New Jersey, in order to preserve and enjoy the Dutch DAF cars.

DAF Stories
All known owners were contacted in the United States and Canada to compile a registry of the DAF cars. Many non-owners joined the club because of their interest in the Variomatic/Automatic (the original CVT perfected by DAF for automotive use) transmission, which was unique to all DAFcars. We currently have over 100 listed members across the country & Canada who are driving their cars or are involved in restoration projects on every model of DAF car or Military truck.
The DAF Club of America has, in the past, held many “hands-on” workshops. The first one was held in 1988. There were also workshops held in 1991 and 1994. All these workshops were conducted by our supporting member and super DAF mechanic Matt Stapper from Waalre, Holland. Matt is also one of our main parts suppliers in Europe. Hopefully, in the near future we will conduct more workshops as many of our current members are in the process of major restoration projects.
The future of the DAF Club of America is in the hands of it's members. The year 2010 marked the 25th Anniversary of our club. We (the Board of Directors) will strive very hard to build this organization, to develop a strong bond and enthusiasm which will carry us forward far into the future. In June,2015 the club celebrated it's 30th Anniversary with a weekend gathering of members with their cars from across the country. The event was held at the National Headquarters/ DAF Museum in Vermont which showed us all just how diverse the club has become. The first 25 were great...let's keep going and make the next 25 even better.
